The right care at the right time, in the right place.
Welcome to LLR PCL.
We are a community interest company (not for profit) who works in tandem with the NHS. We identify what patient care needs can be looked after in local, primary care environments. In doing so, we relieve pressure on the NHS and help you to get the care you need quicker.
What does this mean?
Your care needs might not always require a hospital visit. Sometimes the services you require can be provided locally. That might mean at a GP’s surgery or a community healthcare centre. We work with care organisations throughout the NHS to establish exactly what care you need and if it can be provided in your local area.
The benefit of this is that we can help relieve some pressure off of our NHS hospitals whilst at the same time you get the care you need quicker and in a more familiar setting.
Put simply, the right care at the right time, within the right place.
Our aim is to provide you with the best, most appropriate care and deliver it in your local area. Better for the NHS, better for you.
Why do it this way?
Over the coming years, the services provided by the NHS will need to adapt and change so that they can continue to be delivered in a way which puts the patient first but is also affordable.
As our population grows larger and older, the need for patient care and support is growing. Add to this the demands caused by the COVID-19 pandemic – you can easily see how the system is under a lot of strain.
Sometimes the demand for care out-strips the resources available.
We decided to work with the NHS to see where pressure could be relieved by re-structuring the way in which some patient receive their care, bringing it into local communities.
This new system works better for both patients and the NHS.
Benefits to you
- NHS hospital waiting times can be lengthy which means you are having to cope with your health issue for longer. Our services mean those waiting times can be reduced and you can begin receiving care much sooner.
- Hospital admissions can often be cancelled at the very last moment because of the high demand for beds. Having your procedure cancelled at the eleventh hour can be frustrating and upsetting. Our services provide you with a much more reliable appointment allowing you to plan properly.
- Getting to hospital can often be challenging, especially if you are likely to have follow-up appointments post procedure. You might have to figure out what public transport to take or you might have to find a car parking space and pay parking charges. You might even have to rely on a family member or friend to assist you. It can be time consuming, expensive and stressful. Whatever travel issues you face, we think it’s always better if your destination is more local to you. Our services are based within the community which makes life much easier for everyone.
- Increased focus on your local community healthcare system is vital to improving your healthcare and wellbeing. We fully support this approach as it allows for greater engagement with people and a better understanding of their needs. This is especially vital when it comes to the elderly, more marginalised community groups or those suffering social isolation or loneliness.
Preparing for your procedure
Your questions answered
You will be given support and clear instructions from your healthcare team prior to your appointment.
However, it is always a good idea to consider the following points and perhaps talk through them with your healthcare team
You should discuss this with your healthcare team ahead of your procedure. They will tell if you are allowed to take your medication on the day of the procedure. You may also need to bring all your medication with you.
