PCL now has two active Roving Healthcare Units. These are used to undertake outreach services across the region, to promote vaccination uptake, healthcare education and awareness. Most recently they have been successfully deployed to encourage Covid 19 vaccination uptake amongst the elderly and clinically vulnerable – particularly in hard to reach localities.
The RHU’s are an ideal vehicle to tackle healthcare in equality across LLR and can support the work already being done by community, voluntary and social enterprise organisations.
PCL continues to play an important role within the region’s Covid-19 vaccination delivery programme, proving the following roles and functions:
To date, the Roving Vaccination Units have delivered almost 7,500 Covid vaccinations across 112 locations around LLR. Sites chosen for pop up clinics have been identified as having previously low vaccination uptake. The roving units have been sited in places which make it easy and convenient for people to receive their vaccination, such as shopping centres, supermarket car parks, outside food banks and mosques.
